How about that Episode III, eh? Okay, enough movie talk for now. You guys are very resourceful, so I am asking you for help.
The Problem: I have a Sony Clie PEG-NX60/U pda. About six months ago, my computer at work was wiped out and I lost my palm desktop and backup information. I tried to find my original installation disk, but despite turning my house inside out and backwards, I have not been successful. Without that installation disk, none of my information is hot-synced and backed up. My job depends upon me using that information and if anything happens to my pda (like this morning’s “Fatal Error” scare, which fortunately didn’t delete anything) I will flip out Jerry Maquire style and lose it.
The Trial: I have attempted to install my employer’s version of Palm Desktop, but it requires the Sony Clie Drivers which are conveniently absent from Sony’s site. I also tried to install the software from other Sony Clie models and from downloaded versions, but that didn’t work either. Sony’s help line costs $15 just to speak to a person, so I’d rather not go that route.
The Mission: The mission will be completed when the palm desktop software on my work computer is able to sync with my pda and backup is accomplished.
The Method: Possible solutions to this dilemma include but are not limited to:
- Mailing me an original Sony Clie PEG-NX60/U CD
- Mailing me a burned but fully functional copy of the aforementioned CD
- E-mailing or otherwise hooking me up electronically with the drivers or CD.
- Showing up in a highly modified DeLorian and taking me back to when I purchased the PDA; making me put the disk in a safe and memorable place.
The Reward: The (first) person who is able to complete this mission and assist me will be handsomely rewarded with a T-shirt from the Theater Hopper store and a star on the TH Walk of Fame. Please email me if you are interested in helping me. I don’t want to receive 10 disks in the mail and be expected to buy you each a shirt. Email me at brinkmeyer@hotmail.com if you think you can help. Please include something about a mission in the message title so I know you are not an evil spammer.
Help me Theater Hoppers, you are my only hope.

Morons should not be allowed to drive The General Lee. They don’t know how to get in.
Okay, first things first. A few of you are going to look at today’s strip and exclaim – “OH MY GOD! HE’S TOTALLY RIPPING OFF SCOTT KURTZ!”
Well, I’m here to tell you “Congratulations for figuring that out. In fact, if you ∗didn’t∗ figure that out on your own, I’m going so far as to actually provide you a link to the comic I am directly referencing. It’s called “an homage” and I’ve also provide you a link to the definition of that word just in case you are unfamiliar with it.”
At any rate, it’s wholly intentional and I have plans for using the visual repeatedly in a storyline this week, so get used to it.
Oh, I wish I could unveil my grand plans for how I plan to wrap things up on Friday. What I have in store is delectable. But I can’t share it! That will ruin the surprise!
Is anyone else psyched to see Dukes of Hazzard this weekend? I am. I wish I could put a finger on my affinity for that old television chestnut. I think I am so fond of it because it was a show I would often watch when I would visit my grandparents. We would hang out at their place and I would watch reruns and those were happy memories.
Plus, it is – be default – AWESOME to watch a stunt driver launch a car over a crevasse…
Something else I’m excited for is Wizard World Chicago. Me and a whole bunch of other cool people are going to be there this Thursday through Sunday and I’ve been looking forward to it all summer. This year’s outing is shaping up to be one of those events that will never happen again in your life. I can already sense it. All the pieces are already falling into place. All the people I like will be there and I know we’re going to have fun just socializing and catching up. I can just tell that this will be something special. Something we will never be able to recreate again and I think it’s great.
I’m leaving town at noon on Wednesday. Think of me while I’m on the road, listening to my recently purchased copies of the new Sleater Kinney and Dane Cook records to whittle away the six-hour car trip.
When I was a kid, six hours in the car was tantamount to torture. Nowadays, I can do six hours standing on my head. I drove to Memphis and back in a straight shot. Dallas, too. Those are about 12 hour jaunts.
It doesn’t start to bother me until I think “Hmm. Six hours. That’s one-fourth of my day. I could watch 3 or 4 movies in that time span. Maybe 3 or 4 if they’re really good Hollywood classics like Citizen Kane or Bridge Over The River Kwai. Anything with the pre-Star Wars editing sensibility. You know the ones where they actually settle on an image and let you ABSORB IT for longer than two seconds?
I’m getting off track.
Something I was going to discuss on Friday that didn’t get discussed what a revision to our archiving structure.
First, major thanks to Steve Napierski for stepping up to the plate with an awesome solution. Steve has a comic called the outer circle that you need to check out. I’ve yet to properly thank Steve personally, but perhaps by sending some traffic his way this early in the morning, it will buy me some time and I can compose a proper e-mail.
That said, Steve solved a problem that has been plaguing me for a long time. Whenever I asked for guest strips, I always felt bad about shuffling them off into the Bonus Materials area of the site because I felt the people who contributed deserved high-level recognition and their work (and links to their site) front and center on the main page.
The conundrum came into effect when I felt guilty for misrepresenting MY OWN contribution to the site.
For example. Before Steve’s solution came into effect, the archive said I had over 470 comics. When IN REALITY, I only had 450.
I want what’s out there to be honest and reflect my individual efforts. So when I go about town someday down the road bragging “I have 10,000 comics in my archive!” no one will come along and say “You’re full of it, Brazelton! You only have 730 comics! The rest of them are all guest strips!” (extrapolating the amount of guest strips I’ve run so far this year, my figures do not seem out of bounds)
What Steve did was modified the archive code so that any title that begins with the words “GUEST STRIP” have their numerical place in the archive skipped over, but their physical location to remain rooted on the front page. Additionally, on the archive page, guest strips are given their own special location, organized by date.
How’s that for the best of both words!
So I am very happy with the outcome and want to again thank Steve for his help. There were a few other people eager to lend their support that I had to unfortunately turn down. Again, like Steve, they don’t know this yet because I haven’t had a chance to e-mail them. Sorry, guys! But I will catch up with you soon!
Now all that’s left to do is add back some of the earlier guest strips into the archive. Be on the lookout for those in the near future.
Things are going to be hectic for me this week as I prepare to go to Wizard World. I really only have tonight and tomorrow night to get my ducks in a row.
What really sucks is that I came up with a cool idea for a promotional give-away about 5 hours ago. I’m going to make custom 1″ buttons for the show that I’m giving away for free. So if you stop buy, feel free to grab one.
The artwork is 90% done. It has everything but text, otherwise I would share it with you. That will come later. But once I get the art back from the printer, I need to start assembling buttons when I get home from work. This, in addition to staying ahead of my update schedule so you guys will have a fresh comic on Friday while I’m out of town.
I tell you, this train doesn’t stop!
I should have some time to kill Thursday morning to make a batch of buttons in the hotel room as I wait for them to open the floor for preview night. Since I’m taking my button making machine with me to the con, I can always make more if I run out. So that will be nice.
Anyhoo – just giving you a fairly large peek into my world! Time for bed!
Sorry for the delay getting this posted to the site. I hope I didn’t leave too many of you in breathless anticipation. But at any rate…
Follow this link to learn more about Theater Hopper’s very first contest. A promotional DVD give-away in conjunction with Anchor Bay Entertainment. Five lucky winners will walk away with a copy of 1980’s The Long Good Friday. (available on DVD for the first time Tuesday, April 4) starring Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren.
This is a bit of a cult film, but it’s really good – I assure you. I watched it over the weekend and it reminds me a lot of other "across the pond" gangland flicks like Snatch. And honestly, when has Bob Hoskins ever been bad in anything? He was even good in The Super Mario Bros. Movie!
Entering the contest couldn’t be easier. All you have to do is send me an e-mail and winners will be chosen at random.
For more details on contest rules and participation, click here. You can also read a synopsis on the film and forthcoming DVD as well as view the trailer and exclusive video clips!
You can expect me to make a little bit more noise about this in the coming days…
GOOD LUCK, EVERYONE!
Apologies for the delay posting the names of the winners. I had to make sure a couple of things were organized at home before I could announce them.
Everything is organized!
Congrats to our five winners of The Long Good Friday DVD giveaway! Daniel Pagan, Stuart Baker, Leon Waldman, Chris Brandimore and Will Carpenter. Each of you will be recieving a copy of The Long Good Friday which is now available in store.
If you sent in an application but didn’t win, thanks for your time and support. Generating interest for events like these will increase the likelihood that we’ll get to do them again so be sure to spread the word!
Again, congrats to the winners. You should be seeing your DVDs in the mail within the next week or so!

Hey, guys. I wanted to be sure and create a second blog post for this because I’ve got an awesome opportunity for you that I don’t want you to miss.
Be sure to tune in and listen to The Triple Feature talkcast tonight at 9:00 PM. In addition to the awesome hour-long content about movies you’ll be getting from yours truly, Joe Dunn from Joe Loves Crappy Movies and Gordon McAlpin from Multiplex will be in the house to add to the mayhem. Tonight’s topic of discussion will be… well, I don’t know what tonight’s topic of discussion will be. I’ll have to check with Joe and Gordon! Luckily, I downloaded last week’s episode, so I know that Joe planned on seeing Kickin’ It Old School. There’s also a possibility we’ll be talking about Nic Cage’s latest bomb Next and The Invisible.
But I won’t lie. I just wanna talk about Spider-Man 3.
That uncertainty aside, there are TWO big reasons to listen to the show tonight because we’ll be giving away copies of TWO big movies.
Our first contest is for the Academy Award winning Dreamgirls. This was a big hit last December and I loved it for the opportunity it gave Jennifer Hudson to upstage Beyonce Knowles and Jamie Foxx – two entertainers that could stand to be knocked down a few pegs. Dreamgirls is available on DVD this Tuesday, May 1 so be sure to check out the performance that catapulted a cast off from American Idol into Oscar history! Either that, or you can listen tonight’s episode of The Triple Feature for a chance to win a FREE copy for yourself!
The other big movie we’re giving away is Diggers. Okay, it’s not that big of a movie. In fact, it’s being relased on DVD and in theaters on the exact same day. But it has pedigree! Diggers is written by Ken Marino, who you may or may not remember from the sketch comedy group The State. It stars Paul Rudd as a Long Island clam digger who tries to maintain is small town way of life in the face of social change in the 1970s. I know it doesn’t sound like a laugh riot, but this film has a lot of heart to it and some great character moments along the way. It’s kind of like Wet Hot American Summer, but with a brain. It has that same nostalgia feel, but with some more drama to it. It’s a really unique film and it has a ton cool actors in it. A few of Marino’s buddies from The State show up and it also features performances from Maura Tierney and Lauren Ambrose.
Again, you can win your free copy of either one of these movies by listening to The Triple Feature, tonight at 9:00 PM CST. All you have to do is listen to the program and wait for the secret clue. Since we’re giving away two movies this week, there will be two individual clues. Hold on to those clues and then come back to Theater Hopper on Wednesday for the second half of the clues. E-mail the complete clue along with your name, age and mailing address to theaterhopper@hotmail.com and winners will be selected at random.
Most importantly, since we’re doing two giveaways this week, it will help me to keep things straight if you send in your submissions independent of each other. I know that makes you guys jump through hoops, but it will improve your odds of winning if you send one e-mail for Dreamgirls and one for Diggers. I take all the submissions I get and organize them in a folder. If you’re entering both contests with one e-mail, I’m going to have to toss out your entry. Sorry.
Remember, if you’re unable to listen to tonight’s broadcast live, you can always download completed recordings from The Triple Feature page over at Talkshoe. We have almost 20 shows under our belts and there’s a lot of good stuff there. So if you’ve never listened in before and want to get a sense of what we do, download a couple of episodes and get familiar. They’re only an hour long a piece, so they won’t take up a lot of your time. Besides, they’re a lot of fun.
Incidentally, our contests for Copying Beethoven, Deja Vu and The Queen are still running because we haven’t received the giveaway copies from the distributors yet. I’ve been reassured they’re coming soon, but technically, that still leaves a window open for you guys to win free stuff! Download the April 2 broadcast for the first half of the clue to Copying Beethoven and the April 16 broadcast for the first half of the clue to Deja Vu. Access the April 4 blog and April 18 blog respectively for the second half of the clues to those two contests. The complete clue for The Queen was given in the April 25 blog.
Hope to hear from you guys during tonight’s broadcast and thanks again for supporting The Triple Feature!

Hey, gang. I just wanted to send a quick reminder to everyone to listen to tonight’s broadcast of The Triple Theater at 9:00 PM CST over at Talkshoe. And to help keep your memory fresh, I wanted to take a moment to outline the two new DVDs we’ll be giving away to people who either listen in live or download the show before Wednesday.
First up is Wild Hogs. The star-studded cast of this hit comedy includes Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macyas four suburban couch jockeys who suffer from mid-life crises and take motorcycles to the American asphalt expecting nothing but fun and adventure. But being an easy rider isn’t so easy, especially after a chance encounter with the real-life Del Fuegos biker gang proves just how lame and tame the Hogs really are.
From what I’ve heard, Ray Liotta steals the show as the leader of the rival biker gang. If for nothing else, he’s the reason to check out this film.
If your curious about the movie, here are a few clips you can watch:
- Break his Legs
William H. Macy confronts the age old question – what do you need more – hands or legs? - Slap the Bull
To know you’re alive, sometimes you gotta slap the bull. - Bonus Clip
How to Get Your Wife To Let You Buy a Motorcycle. - Bonus Clip
Bloopers
The other DVD we have for you tonight is The Ex. Tom Reilly (Zach Braff) and his wife Sofia (Amanda Peet) are in for some major changes now that they have a newborn. As a lawyer, Sofia has always provided a comfortable living while Tom has contributed love, support and the occasional paycheck. When Sofia decides to be a stay-at-home mom all that changes. Tom moves the family to Ohio to work for his father-in-law (Charles Grodin). His boss, Chip (Jason Bateman), happens to still carry a torch for Sofia from their high school days. Chip will stop at nothing to see Tom defeated while no one but Tom can see Chip for the evil genius he is. Through it all Tom’s esteem is depleted, his manhood challenged (by a surprisingly large adversary) and he’s watching his family slip away.
Ever since Arrested Development, Jason Bateman has been a favorite of mine. Hey, I’m just as surprised as you thank I’m enamored with the guy from The Hogan Family and Teen Wolf, Too. But guess what? The guy is hilarious in damn near everything he’s in.
So there you have it. Those are the DVDs I have available for giveaway.
Be sure to listen to The Triple Feature over at TalkShoe tonight at 9:00 PM CST for the first half of a clue that will put you in the running. Then come back here on Wednesday for the second half of the clue. Put both clues together and send them to me at theaterhopper@hotmail.com along with your name, age and mailing address. And please keep your contest entries seperate – one for Wild Hogs and one for The Ex. It will help me keep things organized.
Thanks again and we’ll see you at The Triple Feature tonight!

Apologies to anyone who tried to participate in or download last night’s Triple Feature talkcast. Gordon and I ran into some technical difficulties around the 15 minute mark and decided to scrap the show after neither of us could log back in. You wouldn’t have missed much. Joe was M.I.A. because he got to attend an early screening of American Gangster and neither Gordon or I had much to talk about. We were pretty much going to wing it. There weren’t that many people in the chat field, either. I think everyone was off watching the premiere of Heroes, or something.
We might try and do another show later in the week to make up for it. Possibly Thursday. Joe is game. We’re still waiting for confirmation from Gordon. So stay tuned for that one. Either way you slice it, don’t worry about getting the first half of The Kingdom prize package giveaway code. I’m going to give you the whole thing on Wednesday and you can enter the contest then.
Speaking of contests, I’ve got another one for you!
I have two copies of Stargate Atlantis: Season Three to give away and I’m going to make you work a little bit to be eligible to win.
All I need you to do is pick your favorite three Theater Hopper strips and submit them to your favorite social bookmarking site. It could be StumbleUpon, it could be Reddit, it could be Digg. Whatever works best for you.
If you’re new to social bookmarking, you can use the handy little drop down at the bottom of this post. Be sure you’re on the individual page you want to bookmark before tagging it.
Once you’ve bookmarked your three favorite strips to the social bookmarking site of your choice, send a screen shot or a link to your profile page so I can see your entries to me at theaterhopper@hotmail.com along with your name and mailing address. You have until this Friday to enter. From the entries, two winners will be chosen at random.
Hopefully you guys appreciate that I’m just trying to drum up some interest in the site and it’s really not that much effort for a chance to win something cool. Your efforts help promote the site and ,when that happens, everyone wins!
Get bookmarking and good luck!

So you guys remember that contest I was running last week for The Kingdom, right? On Friday I received the prize pack in the mail and I wanted to share this picture with you:
First of all, let me say that it is KILLING me to give this stuff away. I would happily keep all of it. But that’s not the agreement I made with you. One of the lucky folks who submitted their entry has been randomly chosen to receive these goodies and they are on their way this week!
Secondly, I wanted to post this to demonstrate that I am NOT FOOLING AROUND when it comes to these contests. I am giving away cool stuff here, people! In fact, I’m kicking myself that I didn’t make you guys jump through more hoops to be eligible for this contest. Since The Triple Feature talkcast was down last week, you didn’t have to listen to the broadcast for a clue or anything. Crazy!
And, by the way, another Triple Feature talkcast is on for tonight at 9:00 PM CST so you need to listen in to see what kind of crazy stuff we have cooked up.
At any rate, if you want to stay on top of these contests, I strongly suggest that you sign up for the mailing list. I’ll give you guys the advance notice on the upcoming contests I’ll be running along with weekly recaps of Theater Hopper news. Who knows – I might just offer my next DVD giveaway to my mailing list subscribers EXCLUSIVELY! But you’ll never know unless you sign up!
Talk to you all tonight during The Triple Feature talkcast. Take care!

I hope everyone had a chance to listen to The Triple Feature talkcast last night. If not, it was a good show. We covered a lot ground talking about American Gangster, Bee Movie and Shia LaBeouf being arrested in Chicago. Good times.
Something else I touched on quickly was the release of Michael Moore’s Sicko out on DVD today. In addendum to the review posted above, I have one copy to give away, so I’m running a little contest.
Download last night’s episode of The Triple Feature from our profile page and listen for the first half of a clue. Combine it with the second half of the clue (that I’m going to give to you in a second) and e-mail the compelted clue to theaterhopper@hotmail.com with your name and address. Make sure the subject line of your e-mail is “SICKO” so I’ll know you’re entering the drawing. One winner will be chosen at random. If you don’t want to download the show from TalkShoe, we’re also available on iTunes. Sign up for our podcast and have the latest epsiode sent to your computer every week!
Anyway, without further delay, the second half of the code is “YOU.”
Send in the complete phrase for your chance to win!
GOOD LUCK!
