Seeing this trailer makes me want to pop Once in the DVD player again.
My only reservation is the shots where they’re subtitling people speaking English with thick accents – I always find that more distracting than helpful. But if knowing the ending isn’t enough to keep me from seeing the movie, there’s no way a minor quibble like that will.
I can’t wait to see this movie. For the Birds was one of the first albums I ever bought and since then I’ve followed everything The Frames and Glen Hansard have done. At live performances Glen always tells stories about his songs and they manage to be as captivating as the music itself.
We don’t go to the theater much, but we found Once by accident when the wife and I were reading through the movies one weekend and found it described as an Irish musical. My immediate thought was, “I gotta see that, I’ve never encountered an Irish musical before.” Not knowing what to expect we were both blown away by this little film and it’s amazing soundtrack. We went on to see the Swell Season when they came through Dallas, and that was a fantastic experience. Seeing that this documentary is being released is an unexpected surprise, can’t wait to see it.
