I think the mirror’s edge first person view section was kind of gimmicky. Also, i would have liked to see Garfield crack some wise. But I am interested in how they are going to explain/use the suit, webshooters and webbing.
the whole think screams of aping Nolan’s Dark Knight franchise to me, with touches of the raimi spiderman thrown in in the style of speaking that is the narration at the end of the trailer. I think it was you, Tom who said that spidey is the last character that needs a “gritty reboot” and even if it wasn’t I couldn’t agree more.
I think the PoV shot is great in theory, but my eye immediately went to the uncanny valley every time a limb flashed into view. good concept, but the tech just doesn’t seem to be up to the job… unless they can tighten it up a lot more than this between now and curtain up.
Unfortunately, that kinda ruins the bulk of the plot for me. Looks like they’re doing that whole arc where Peter searches for his parents. Only remember bits and pieces from the 90s era TV show, but I wonder who will do Kingpin for this movie…
I agree. I think if it had just been the rooftop run, the trailer would have been more compelling. Or maybe that’s just my feeling because the rest of the trailer looks… kinda bad to me.
The whole parent angle — interesting, since I’ve never much followed Spiderman to hear much about his parents. But yeah, ANOTHER origin movie??
And frankly, the punk take on Peter is a little much for me to stomach. I guess I always thought he was supposed to be more of a lovable (if forgettable) nerd.
Meh, I thought the first person stuff looked like a video game running at medium details… I’m hoping they don’t put that viewpoint in the movie too too much as it’ll take away from the whole “grounded in reality” thing they’re doing with comic book movies these days.

Do we really need ANOTHER origin story movie? Come on.
But the actor seems endearingly dorky! I like it.

Was on ‘Captain America’. I gotta say that on the computer screen, it is not that impressive, but on the big screen, the first person stuff is amazing
