I’m just kinda wondering about this, since you mentioned that Aladdin was the last Disney movie you felt you really enjoyed. I personally think that The Lion King was the absolute height of hand-drawn Disney animation with a deeply intense story, memorable characters, and stunning animation. And it created the characters with only a single recognizable vocal talent (James Earl Jones, one of the best narrators/mentors in history). They improved the animation in Pocahontas, Mulan, and Tarzan, but for some reason those 3 movies didn’t really hit me quite like The Lion King.
This is nothing against Aladdin, which I feel is the second best modern hand-animated Disney film. I just feel that The Lion King topped it in virtually every possible way. Plus, Gilbert Gotfried just annoys me…
