I saw Easy A this weekend. I thought it was hilarious. Emma Stone is awesome. I have to admit, I was somewhat disappointed in Amanda Bynes’s performance. She’s usually one of my favorite actresses, but I felt somewhat let down this time around. It could be the fact that she tends to play the same character in whatever she does, and it wasn’t that way this time, but still.
Either way, I thought that Easy A was amazing, and that anyone should be able to enjoy it. But that’s just my opinion.
I also saw Easy A this weekend, and I adored it. I have to admit that while the premise interested me, I was locked into seeing it because I love Emma Stone. Amanda Bynes, Stanley Tucci and Dan Byrd were icing on the cake. It was such a clever movie, and the romantic parts in it are woven in so well that it’s important, but not the focus. It’s not a romantic comedy; it’s a comedy with romance on the side. I can’t wait to see Emma Stone in more starring roles.
Saw The Town just yesterday, thought it was excellent. It wasn’t anything groundbreaking but it was just a well-crafted crime drama. The cast was universally great, Jeremy Renner particularly good and Blake Lively a small but well done part. I’ve never understood the Affleck hate, and here he’s shown me hes a great director and actor. The tension during the action scenes was so well done, it had me on the edge of my seat. And unexpectedly, the movie has a dark sense of humor thats not overdone and fits the movie perfectly, and was incredibly funny. All in all, highly reccomended.
Saw The Town on Sunday, definitely thought it was really good. Top-notch action sequences and a more than serviceable story (though I’m a sucker for heist movies). Jeremy Renner gives a great performance. Yeah, it’s not better than Gone Baby Gone, but that’s more because GBG was so good, not because The Town isn’t.
I’m really excited for The Town, though I can’t afford to go to the Theatre right now. The next movie my wife insists upon going to is The Legend of the Guardians, so I’ll probably wait to see The Town on DVD. I feel like we’ve already seen it though. The first trailer I saw for it was the length of a short film and looked like it gave away every major plot point. A little annoying, but I’m still eager to see it.
The Town’s plot isn’t the reason to watch it. It’s a heist movie. Plot permutations aren’t the important part. I felt the execution was what made it sing. Besides, the “spoilers” the trailer gives away are all revealed in the first 8th of the movie anyway.
